Covid-19 update, 17/03/20

Whilst there are a lot of people out there who have the ability to self isolate, due to the nature of the hospitality industry, this is nigh on impossible for a good percentage of the population. Currently the government has offered the general public the advice that they should not frequent pubs/bars/restaurants due to a higher risk of infection whilst at the same time have not advised said pubs/bars/restaurants to close. This has left a lot of business owners in a predicament. If they close their business of their own volition and not on the advice of the government, they will be less likely to be able to claim compensation for their (as of yet undetermined length of time) closure. This means they can't pay staff sick pay or recoup any of the losses that they will sustain due to being closed. However, if they decide to stay open the likelihood of them actually doing any substantial business, due to the recent governmental advice, is quite low. What this does mean is that a lot of our comrades in arms have stopped ordering as much beer as they usually would, which in turn, is having and will have a significant impact on the brewing industry as a whole. First of all, rest assured that we are doing our utmost to guarantee the safety and well being of our staff here at Beer Ink. We have put certain procedures in place in our already unbelievably hygienic brewery in order to safe guard all points of contact and touch points (door handles, work surfaces etc) around the brewery.

We have encouraged those who can work from home to do so and have limited time spent on site at the brewery to a necessary minimum. We will be continuing deliveries to pubs and bars until advised not to do so by the government, however we will be asking for cash or card payment on delivery. With that in mind, we have made the very hard decision to close our next tap room opening on the 28th and 29th March. Not only do we not want a spread of the virus in a food production area but we're also conscious that a large percentage of our Tap Room customers are in the high risk bracket and as such, don't want to put them in any more danger than they should be in. We will keep an eye on any and all governmental advice over the next few weeks and will let you know when we will be next opening the tap room! In the meantime, DO NOT DESPAIR! We have currently made our webshop live on our website - - and will be offering a bottle delivery service, door to door, to the following areas: Huddersfield Wakefield Leeds Halifax Delivery is FREE over £30 We will also be making vouchers for our tap room available through the website in the next few days. The only thing left to say is, if you have the ways or means to do so, please support your local businesses, especially the hospitality ones. We're sure that most of them will be selling vouchers over the next few weeks which will be redeemable once all this nonsense has blown over. Stay Safe Kids! The Beer Ink Team
